MISSIONS

Our heartbeat is to take the Gospel not only to our community, but to our nation and to our world. It is the privilege of every follower of Christ and of every church body to make disciples of all nations.
“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But how can they call on Him if they have not believed in Him? And how can they believe without hearing about Him? And how can they hear without a preacher? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who announce the gospel of good things!” Romans 10:13-15.
Couple this verse with Matthew 28:19-20 where Jesus specifically commands us, it is clear that we are to be going and sharing about Jesus with all who do not know Him!

HOW ARE YOU ENGAGED ON OUR CAMPUS?

On our campus, we have three ongoing ministry opportunities in the form of First Impressions, First Connections, and First Help. All are opportunities for our church members to serve on a weekly or monthly basis; if you are interested in serving, contact Sarah.

The First Impressions team are people who make initial contact with guests at one of our services by greeting at doors, passing out bulletins, serving coffee, and communicating information.
The First Connections team are people who pray for and counsel with others at the end of our services and teams of people who go out and visit our guests.
Our First Help is through our Food Pantry where members serve by greeting, counseling, and taking groceries out to cars.
First Help is available by appointment on the 2nd and 4th Thursday mornings of the month. If you would like an appointment, please call the church office for more information.

WHO ARE YOU PERSONALLY IMPACTING LOCALLY?

Often, our members make discoveries of local needs and meet them – we encourage you to be proactive and to look for places to serve locally. For many of us, this happens in our workplace, across the street, in our local jail, at the park, and in our schools. Deer Park and the greater Houston area are tremendous harvest fields. Our local Union Baptist Association and our state Baptist General Convention of Texas have great resources and avenues for service as individuals or small groups to serve.
Below are a few organizations that we are currently connected with as a church, and are great places to consider being involved as you serve in Jesus’ name.

WHERE ARE YOU GOING NATIONALLY & INTERNATIONALLY?

Since we are part of the Cooperative Program of Southern Baptists, we have two fantastic missionary sending organizations that we work with, the North American Mission Board and the International Mission Board, and seek to join with the work already being accomplished.
Below are areas we are connected to through strategic partnerships where the focus is Gospel sharing and church planting.

Did you know that of the approximately 5.5 million people in the metro Phoenix area only about 12.6 percent of them are evangelical Christians?

As of the Spring of 2017, we have partnered with Steve Spratlin, the Lead Church Planter at Mountain Ridge Metro Church, and are excited to see how God will use us to make an impact on lostness for His Glory in the great city of Phoenix.

Stan & Karen Felder have been serving in Edmonton, Alberta for almost three years; a city that is vastly diverse but is only about 5.9 percent evangelical.
1.6 BILLION people in the world are South Asians, 1.5 BILLION of them do not have a personal relationship with Jesus.

Pray for our workers there and keep up with ways you can pray here.

1/4 of the world now lives in East Asia, where there are still 213 unreached and unengaged people groups.

Pray for our workers there and keep up with ways you can pray here.

WHAT DOES ALL OF THIS MEAN FOR YOU?

You should be excited and praying how God wants to use you! Charles Spurgeon said, “Every Christian is either a missionary or an impostor.” Don’t be an impostor! God’s plan to reach the nations includes you sharing with someone, locally, nationally, and internationally. Make relationships, point people to Jesus, be quick to share the hope you have because of Him, get a passport, save up some vacation days to be used for a mission trip, and most importantly pray and be willing to go!

And first and foremost, plug into a ministry locally here with your family at Deer Park First Baptist Church…serve, give, be a committed part of the work being done through this body of believers. If you don’t consider yourself a part of Deer Park First, or don’t have your own relationship with Jesus, we are happy to personally introduce you to Him. For those who are engaged and are praying and doing and going, THANK YOU! God’s Kingdom is moving forward and this local body of believers is stronger because you are willing to be used by our King.
