I grew up in a home where the Christian life was modeled before my eyes through a loving father who led our family spiritually with grace and forgiveness and a mother who served her husband, children, and church passionately. At 5 years old, after a church fall festival, God called me to follow Him. My dad prayed with me that night and I asked Jesus to be my Lord and Savior and was baptized the next year. As I grew to be more like Jesus and learned more about the gifts that God had given me, I realized my passion for soccer and for teaching children. When I was entering 8th grade I was called into the ministry after a week at Student Life Camp. Because of God’s call on my life at such a young age I was able to find a school where I could pursue a degree in Children’s Ministry. This pursuit is what originally led me to Dallas Baptist University.
After graduating from La Porte High School in 2010 I started at DBU where God continued to mold me. In college I learned to hold firm in my faith and dig deeper into the reasons why I believed in God apart from my parents. While in Dallas I was hired by Unlimited Partnerships, an intern program designed to strengthen churches and develop leaders through mentoring, coaching, and training. Unlimited Partnerships connected me to Park Central Baptist Church where I was the Part-Time Children’s Minister for almost 2 years. I also met some awesome people volunteering at the Reach4Hope Homework Center where I tutored, mentored, and discipled the children of north Dallas. I was privileged to be a part of an accelerated master’s program and receive my Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies and Master of Arts in Children’s Ministry in December of 2014.
God led me back to the Houston area after I graduated. Upon returning home, I started working as the Children’s Sunday School Director at First Baptist Church of Pasadena and in the afterschool program called Kid’s Club at Fairmont Park Church. Only a few short months later I was brought on as the Children’s Minister at Deer Park First where I have happily served ever since. Deer Park First is the perfect place for me to serve because it is a community that is filled with parents who have humbly accepted their responsibility to disciple their children. This allows me to passionately pursue a partnership with them to boldly declare Christ to their children in hopes that they would develop into believers so that we can send them out from the children’s ministry as disciples who are making disciples in our community.
